Mobilizing Innovation: Glia’s 3D Printing Makerspace Course
For years, Glia has worked to address gaps in global access to care by creating high-quality, low-cost medical devices. This has been achieved using accessible technologies such as 3D printing and open-source ideologies. The application and ubiquity of 3D printing technology is set to grow exponentially in the near future. Despite this, 3D printing technology and training remains inaccessible to members of the general public who are eager to expand their knowledge in this field. Cost, expertise, and space remain the core barriers that contribute to gaps in public knowledge.
Glia has developed a program to empower people with the knowledge that simple technologies can provide solutions to complex problems. Glia’s 3D printing course provides a hands-on opportunity to explore the world of 3D printing technology and its various applications. During these sessions, Glia provides all the equipment and expertise needed to learn the basics of 3D printing and open-source concepts. This mobile makerspace course addresses many of the barriers that hinder members of the general public from learning more about innovative technologies and their significance.
Donating to this program will equip learners with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Seeing real-world examples of 3D printing helps solidify the relevance of local manufacturing, and in turn, demonstrates the power of creative thinking and problem-solving. Your generous contributions will be used to facilitate 3D printing courses, allowing participants to gain valuable insight into the impact these tools have on our global community.
